Update 9:00 p.m: Lazaro looks visibly sad but tries to keep composure. Producers are showing Lazaro's "Idol" journey on the screens and all the girls come to the stage to hug him "goodbye."
It's a girl's battle from now on.
Update 8: 59 p.m: After his performance, Seacrest asks the judges if they want to save him. "Lazaro we love you, you've been a treasure to the show we love you but we are not going to use the save," says judge Randy Jackson.
Update 8:56 p.m: Lazaro was eliminated from "American Idol." Over 34 million votes were cast, Seacrest says. He is singing "Feeling Good" to get the "save vote" from the judges.
Update 8:52 p.m: Seacrest says that Kree and Candice are "America's top 2."
Angie and Janelle are "Middle two" and Lazaro and Amber are "bottom two." Commercial break.
Update 8: 48 p.m: Mariah Carey leaves her seat to come on stage to congratulate Kelly Clarkson and they hug and both compliment each other. Carey is wearing a floor length bright red gown and looks stunning. Even Nicki Minaj is smiling at looking at them.
Update 8:43 p.m: Winner of American Idol Season 1 Kelly Clarkson performs her new song "People Like Us."
Update 8:35 p.m: Ryan Seacrest separated the six contestants in three pairs. He said one couple is the top 2, the other are the "Middle two" and the third one is the "bottom two." Janelle Arthur and Angie Miller were grouped together; Lazaro Arbos and Amber Holcomb were also grouped and Candice Glover and Kree Harrison are the third couple.

Update 8:00 p.m: Ryan Seacrest introduces yesterday's recap of Lazaro Arbos and Janelle Arthur. Lazaro is visibly upset after Idol producer Jimmy Lovine gives his thoughts on Wednesday's performances and says Lazaro's songs were "Ambien milkshake."
Heading into American Idol elimination round Thursday night, only six contestants remain in the show and fans are speculating that the only male singer left in the competition will be eliminated and the girls will dominate the competition now. If the only male contestant remaining in the show, Lazaro Arbos, 21, is eliminated today, American Idol Season 12 will become the first season in six years to crown a girl.
