'Big Bang Theory' Season 6 Spoilers: Details On Bob Newhart's Professor Proton Character Revealed [VIDEO]
As previously reported, legendary actor Bob Newhart will be making a guest appearance on an upcoming installment of CBS' Big Bang Theory. New details on the May 2nd episode, titled The Proton Resurgence, have now surfaced.
CBS put out the following synopsis on the future episode:
"Sheldon and Leonard hire Professor Proton, the host of their favorite childhood TV show, to perform. Also, Howard and Bernadette run into trouble babysitting Raj's dog."
TV Line had reported that the 83-year-old Newhart standout will be appearing on the series' May 2nd episode, marking the very first appearance on a sitcom by an actor in over a decade.
The site went on to state that he'll be playing what's described as "the show's version of Bill Nye the Science Guy.
Professor Proton was one of Sheldon's favorite programs as a child. Therefore, when he finds out that the man (played by Newhart) is now offering his services for events, he makes the decision to take advantage of the opportunity and books Newhart's character at his apartment.
Next up for The Big Bang Theory will be its Closure Alternative episode, which is set to air on Thursday, April 25.
