As another group of houseguests enters the Big Brother house, last year's winner offers some helpful advice to finding success in the game.

The premiere of Big Brother 18 is just a few weeks away, and the official cast is being finalized. The houseguests will be in for a whirlwind of a summer they'll never forget, full of backstabbing, "showmancing" and paranoia.

To assist the upcoming houseguests before the enter the house, Big Brother 17 winner Steve Moses penned a letter addressing how these contestants should conduct themselves in the game, via Big Brother Network.

The letter delves into why houseguests should play with a strategic mindset rather than making decisions based on emotion.

"There is one strategic point we need to get through first: never make a game decision based on your personal feelings," Moses stresses in the letter. "It doesn't matter who you like more. It doesn't matter who annoys you. It doesn't matter how you feel about stabbing your friends in the back. Every single game decision you make should be based solely on which option you think gives you the best odds of going furthest."

Moses also stressed the importance of knowing your own strengths and weaknesses, and using them to assist you in the game.

"For example, I was an engineering student, and I was comfortable with logic and probability. Therefore, I hoped I would be able to make sound strategic decisions and perform in mental comps," he writes. "Conversely, I'm bad at holding small talk, and I'm not very charismatic in a dialogue. I knew I was not going to able to manipulate and persuade people to make decisions against their own best interest. Think about what you do in your life and what skills it would translate to in the game."

Beyond the game, Moses also noted that the game does not ultimately dictate who you truly are as a person.

"This experience will never define you. Your success in life is not your success on the show. Your true character is not reflected in the game," he writes. "After all, none of it can be taken too seriously simply because luck plays a bigger role than most would like to admit. The best you can do is enjoy the ride because you never know how long it will last. And, above all else, remember - it's a TV show in a parking lot. And that's it."

In all likelihood, half of the upcoming cast of Big Brother 18 will probably not heed his advice, but that's part of the fun.

Big Brother 18 premieres Wednesday, June 22 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
