'The Flash' Season 3: Could Eddie Return? Candice Patton Talks Rick Cosnett At Dallas Fan Expo [VIDEO]
The Flash's Barry Allen set out to save his mother, but his trip to the past may yield more than one resurrection.
The Scarlet Speedster (Grant Gustin) was pummeled by ill fortune as season 3 came to an end, causing him to reverse his season 1 decision and reverse his family's fortune. An easy trip thanks to his new tachyon device, Barry's little rescue mission could make him Central City's very own inadvertent necromancer.
A new timeline means STAR Labs deceased cohorts could still be in play. From Ronnie (Robbie Amell) to Eddie (Rick Cosnett), we're hoping writers capitalize on Flashpoint and bring back a few fan favorites this fall.
Candice Patton (Iris) commented on the potential return of her former beau at Fan Expo Dallas, working to assuage a few fears in the process.
"As far as Eddie coming back, I don't know anything about that. I think it's safe to say that that relationship is probably done," Patton said, eliciting cheers from WestAllen fans. "But don't quote me. I don't know, I don't write the show."
Relationships aside, Eddie was a fantastic character. Suddenly thrown into the heart of Central City's meta community, the indefatigable detective barely broke stride as he transitioned into an integral member of Team Flash. Ultimately forced to face his own legacy, the cop made the ultimate sacrifice when he erased the Reverse Flash from history. Needless to say, he'd be a great addition to season 3, provided he isn't evil in the new timeline. Barry has enough problems to deal with as it is.
Twists are to be expected, particularly where the WestAllen relationship is involved. After all, the writers are working to craft a story over the course of multiple season - it's far too soon for happily ever after.
"Audiences I find are very patient these days," Patton said. "We're hoping to have a lot of seasons on air and that means we have to create stories for hopefully six, seven, eight, nine, whatever seasons. So there are a lot of stories to tell."
