Person of Interest won't pull its punches as Team Machine tackles the series finale.

It's been a bloody and heartbreaking final season for Finch (Michael Emerson) and Co., and the events of "Return 0" continue the gory trend. Samaritan is presumably in the throws of defeat courtesy of Ice-9, but, nevertheless, the NSA will manage to take the battle down to the wire.

So, what should fans expect (other than mass casualties, that is)? For one, longtime fans will defiantly have the chance to see Person of Interest come to a satisfactory conclusion. After all, executive producer John Nolan and his team have been eyeing this ending since day one.

"There have been points along the way where we've adapted, changed course, incorporated new things - Shaw was a character that we hadn't fully conceived of when we started the show - but this is the end that we always talked about, the end that's indicated in the pilot," Nolan told TV Line, referencing Finch's early proclamations of doom.

Root's (Amy Acker) death won't go unmentioned either. If Shaw (Sarah Shahi) wanted revenge for her girlfriend's shooting, she will get it.

"If you've wondered how Shaw would react upon meeting the person whose bullet felled Root, you will get that face-off, while all told there are about two to three Kleenex moments," TV Line's Matt Mitovich reported.

Person of Interest introduced seeds for a potential spinoff during "Synechdoche," but, while a potential reboot is possible, few, if any, members of Team Machine will survive to make the jump.

"The ending, I thought, was really satisfying - and still ever so slightly open-ended, so that if someone, someday wanted to reboot this thing, or have a Chapter 2 of some sort, it wouldn't be out of the question," Emerson informed TV Guide. "There are survivors ... [but] not many."
