Joshua Matthews will return to Girl Meets World in a major this summer. Fans looking for a little action on the Joshaya front should keep reading.

The Disney Channel series launched its teenage stars into the wide world of dating last season, and, since then, Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) and Riley (Rowan Blanchard) have become embroiled in an apparent love triangle with Lucas (Peyton Meyer). Series creator Michael Jacobs is adamant, however, that there is a much larger story arc at play.

"On Girl Meets World, if the audience perceives that what this is about is a love triangle, then they don't know us," Jacobs told The Wrap. "There is a much bigger and broader conceptual question that we are answering with what appears to be a triangle between Riley, Maya and Lucas."

When Josh (Uriah Shelton) stops by for "Girl Meets Ski Lodge: Part 1 and 2," the non-existent triangle will come into sharp relief.

Does this mean Josh and Maya are destined for a romance of their own? The four-year age gap between the pals is a little too much, if you ask us. Instead, the pair may merely clear the air. Even just that simple act would be a relief for characters and viewers alike. "Josh plays a big role in upcoming episodes," the Girl Meets World writers revealed during a Twitter Q&A, hinting that Josh and Maya's reunion will be definitely be the pre-teen water cooler talk of the week. "You won't want to miss that. Ski Lodge 1 and 2."

Tune in for Josh's return later this summer. Click the video below to see a preview for the series' next episode, "Girl Meets Upstate," which will air July 8 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
