'Arrow' Season 5: Premiere Title Revealed! Will Russia Flashbacks Open The Season? [VIDEO]
Arrow season 5 is all systems go.
The Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) has his work cut out for him - both personally and professionally - and Star City's heroes and villains will come back out of the woodwork in the season premiere.
"Arrow Season 5 begins production today, executive producer Marc Guggenheim announced Tuesday morning, simultaneously revealing the title for episode 1.
As Arrow enters it's fifth year on The CW, the writers will start to connect some overarching plot points that have kept viewers in suspense since day one.
"The villain that we are introducing is a direct result of things that Oliver has done in Star City [and] calls back to a lot of things that happened in the first season of the show," Amell said at New Jersey's Heroes and Villains Fan Fest over the holiday weekend. "The first two episodes [of Season 5] refocuses us on what the core mission of the show should be, and that to me is very exciting,"
In doing so, Arrow will dive headlong into a batch of long-awaited flashbacks. Writers have doled out Oliver's past in bits and pieces, and season 5 will be packed with answers, partially thanks to a trip to Mother Russia.
"It's a very good possibility that we'll finally find out how he got that Bratva tattoo and how he learned to speak Russian," writer Wendy Mericle told TV Line. "When Oliver says, 'No one can know my secret' and he kills that guy in the pilot, we're going to get some insight into that."
Are you ready? Return to Star City when Arrow season 5 premieres Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
