'Dragon Ball Super' News And Updates: Episode 51 Slows Down Plot, But Features Important Revelations [VIDEO]
Dragon Ball Super Episode 51 has aired, and it has provided fans of the popular anime series to get some reprieve from the intensity and tension from the previous episodes. However, as much as Episode 51 was a lot more toned down than the episodes before it, it still was able to cover a pretty good portion of the plot nonetheless.
What makes Episode 51 shine is actually its character development. Since the Future Trunks arc started, it has been fight after fight with the stakes raised very high. In fact, very little has been spent on developing the characters since Future Trunks was introduced once more. With the previous episode, this lack of development was fully addressed.
True to its title, Episode 51 really explored Trunks and Mai's relationship in the future. Indeed, one of the rather humorous parts of the episode was when Future Trunks was talking to Present-day Mai, who was unsurprisingly shocked to hear about what would happen to her in the future.
Perhaps even funnier is the fact that Future Trunks is a very serious character. Thus, when he was talking to Mai, who, of course, is still a kid in the present, it almost seemed like he was hitting on her. Needless to say, the scene was a bit awkward, but it was pretty funny to watch nonetheless.
The episode was not just about Future Trunks and Mai, however, as the plot also progressed with regards to discovering Black Goku's true identity. In a few scenes when the episode featured the future, Black Goku was shown to be shifting, with his form almost changing into Goku's iconic orange gi.
Of course, such as scene has fuelled even more speculations about the dark character's real identity. If any, it is already certain that Black Goku is not really Goku from another dimension, but rather, he is a host to something far more sinister.
Even without an intense fight, Episode 51 still managed to make itself an enjoyable watch. As for the next episode, it would seem to be character-driven once more, as Future Trunks finally meets his mentor from the future, Gohan. Considering the way Gohan is in the present, Future Trunks should definitely be in for a surprise.
