'The Walking Dead' Season 7: New First Look Photo & Intel Revealed, Who Was Negan's Victim? [VIDEO]
Fans are still going to need to wait until October to officially learn who Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) killed by bashing them in the head with a baseball bat, but there are still promises that the season seven premiere of The Walking Dead will finally address who met the gruesome end.
A new photo released exclusively to Entertainment Weekly shows another shot of Negan holding Lucille, his barbed wire bat, in what appears to still be a shot of him pointing it at his victim. None of the group who were among the potential victims-which included Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Carl (Chandler Riggs), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Glenn (Steven Yuen), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Aaron (Ross Marquand), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Rosita (Christian Serratos)--are featured in the image.
As for any giveaways about who the victim may have been, Greg Nicotero won't give away any hints, though he swears the answer will be given in the first episode of the new season.
"Yes, who was at the receiving end of Negan's bat will be revealed in the first episode," he said.
He also revealed that Negan's speeches are not over just because he's claimed a victim.
"Negan is that kind of guy. He's the kind of guy who imagines himself on stage at a high school production and he loves every second of it. So, I don't really see a lot of quiet contemplative moments with Negan," he said. "I feel like with Negan it's really going to be about him gesticulating and him sort of relishing in the sound of his own voice while he commands the stage in front of whoever's alive."
As for the victim Negan claimed? The most popular theory is that the show followed the comics version of the storyline, which saw him kill Glenn with the bat. Other popular theories have claimed that Negan may have killed Abraham, who's comic death was handed to Denise (Merritt Weaver) instead during season 6.
The Walking Dead returns in October.
