Derek Hough has been nominated for an Emmy for his choreography on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.

Hough, who won season 21 of Dancing With the Stars with Bindi Irwin, received another Emmy nomination for his expert choreography. The dancer was nominated on Thursday for his routines set to the songs "Footprints in the Sand" by Leona Lewis, "Grace Kelly" by MIKA and "Cry Little Sister" by Gerard McMann.

Hough, his sister Julianne Hough and Tessandra Chavez won Emmys last year in the Outstanding Choreography category. He previously won an Emmy in 2013 for this category as well.

As for other Emmy nominations for Dancing With the Stars this year, the show is once again nominated for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program, as well as Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program for Tom Bergeron, Outstanding Makeup for a Multi-Camera Series or Special (Non-Prosthetic), Outstanding Lighting Design, Outstanding Hairstyling for a Multi-Camera Series or Special, Outstanding Costumes for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program and Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Series.

Dancing With the Stars has not had great luck winning the Reality-Competition Program Emmy. That award has either gone to The Amazing Race, Top Chef or The Voice in recent years, with DWTS never taking home the prize. However, the show has been nominated for 11 consecutive years, getting its first nomination in 2006. Bergeron has been nominated every year for nine years as well, but he wound up winning the Emmy in 2012. Overall, the series has won 14 Emmys since its inception, with 88 nominations.

The 2016 Primetime Emmys will air live Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on ABC, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

Meanwhile, Dancing With the Stars season 23 premieres Monday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
