The tale of Taylor Shaw is far from over. Jane Doe isn't Blindspot's missing child, but the decades-old murder will continue to unfold as season 2 begins.

Bill Weller's (Jay O. Sanders) deathbed confession threw Jane Doe's (Jaimie Alexander) tenuous identity into disarray last season, causing his son to uncover the decomposing body of his childhood pal. It might seem like the grisly discovery put the final nail in Taylor Shaw's coffin, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

For one thing, Weller has yet to learn the motive behind his father's deadly secret.

"It's bad," series creator Martin Gero told TV Guide Magazine. "It's super dark."

As Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) reels from a double betrayal, the FBI will be left to wonder if there is indeed a connection between the agency's mystery woman and the body under the fort. After all, someone chose to swap Jane's DNA for Taylor's in an effort to lay a false trail. Was it merely to mess with Weller, or is there a more complicated con in the works? As viewers ponder that, the cast is wondering which of Weller's colleagues tampered with the evidence.

"The DNA saying that she's Taylor Shaw, who switched it out at the FBI?" Alexander said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "Is there another person? Is it Patterson? Is it Zapata? Is it Reade? Who's in on it?"

The premiere will at least dole out one answer - Jane Doe's real identity.

"You're going to learn Jane's real name in episode 1 of season 2," Gero explained in the wake of the season finale, "Why Await Life's End?" "You're going to find out a lot. A lot. And it will be real this time."
