Former One Tree Hill star Hilarie Burton will guest star on an upcoming episode of Grey's Anatomy as Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital's newest craniofacial specialist.

Fans will see her on May 2 taking on patients that need cleft lip/palate procedure. E! Online has exclusive photos of her guest appearance on the show and one image of her standing with Dr. Jackson Avery near a crib hints that Burton's character might operate on a child.

The May 2 episode - titled Do You Believe in Magic - was directed to Kevin McKidd, who plays Dr. Owen Hunt in the ABC series. An official synopsis was released by the network regarding the upcoming episode:

"The doctors reach out to Bailey but she continues to shut everyone out; after an incident with Ethan's grandmother, Owen fears the child could end up in foster care; and a new craniofacial specialist (Hilarie Burton) arrives at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital to work on a young patient; meanwhile, a magician's assistant is rushed into the ER after a magic trick goes terribly wrong."

The synopsis revealed that Miranda Bailey will keep her distance from her fellow attendees and it might be due to the fact that many of them turned against her after the infection scare with her patients.

Bailey faces an investigation by the Center of Disease Control after some of her patients died of unexplainable infections and a promo trailer for the April 25 episode, titled Sleeping Monster, revealed that the situation will "turn friends on each other."

Meredith Grey supports Bailey and says, "We need to stand by our doctors." However, many of the other doctors feel differently and Richard Webber tells Avery, "It's not the hospital, it's one doctor."

Bailey's husband Dr. Ben, will also make an appearance near the end of season 9, as part of the storyline centering around Bailey and the investigation. A photo from the show's set was released of the husband and wife together in the hospital.

Catch the next new episode of Grey's Anatomy on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
