Castle's The Squab and the Quail episode was originally scheduled to air toward the back end of the fifth season. However, it was abruptly traded out with Still, which was considered too closely related in subject matter to the tragic Boston Marathon bombings.

According to Screen Rant, the respective predicament "may account for the chilly air between Kate (Stana Katic) and Castle (Nathan Fillion)" that blows in seemingly out of nowhere.

Kate has trouble gaining the attention of Castle, who is playing a video game. However, by the time he catches on to her seduction tactics, she falls out of the mood.

While en route to a crime scene at an upscale restaurant, Kate queries Castle as to why he no longer gives her an immediate response, but he doesn't seem to understand her motive behind the question, which comes from a place of insecurity.

The issue is blown open when millionaire Eric Vaughn (Ioan Gruffudd) arrives at the scene, and Kate seems to become enamored by him.

It turns out that Vaughn is the target of an unidentified killer, but also of Castle's jealousy.

The irony of the situation is that Vaughn is just as wealthy as Castle, but more importantly, upfront with his feelings for Detective Beckett.

Vaughn even goes as far as having Kate put on his own personal security team in an effort to lure her into the Presidential Suite of a high-end hotel.

With his back seemingly up against the wall, Castle goes into a jealous panic. To make matters worse, Kate seems to have inner issues with the relationship, causing Castle's mother to question whether she wants to commit to the writer.

Castle will next air on Monday, April 29 on the ABC network. Keep checking back for more of the latest details on season 5.
