Indomitable in spirit, quick with a blade, and forged in the cold waters of the north, Vikings' Norsemen are a hard lot to keep down. Even a warrior such as Floki, guilty of murdering his king's most trusted confidant and botching the initial raid on Paris, can manage to claw his way back from the bottom.

Vikings multi-year time jump will provide the boat builder with the opportunity to do just that. When the series reunites viewers with Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) in season 4B, he will be

"Floki is now going through very deep and profound changes, and reevaluating his life, his relationships, and this will continue. This is a very big thread in the story moving forward," series creator Michael Hirst told Entertainment Weekly. "I can't exaggerate how big these changes will be. It's Floki having to reimagine his whole life, who he is, what he's here for. It will lead to quite extraordinary outcomes."

Now that Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) is back in town, Floki will see a drastic change in their fraught friendship. After years away, Fimmel's character will give his old pal the recognition he deserves.

The thing that Floki has always wanted was for Ragnar to say that he loved him. For Floki, Ragnar has always held back from that," Hirst explained, speaking in regards to the image above. "In this scene, Ragnar says to Floki, "I love you." Even now, I'm welling up slightly. It's a huge moment. Floki cannot believe it. That is something that comes out of the blue, slightly, but it's what Floki has wanted to hear most of his life."

Ragnar won't be the only Lothbrok to seek out the carpenter in the episodes to come. In his father's absence, Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) will have forged his own partnership with Floki.

"Floki and Bjorn end up going to the Mediterranean, and they work on their tans a little bit," Ludwig said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "You're definitely going to see Floki and Bjorn's relationship flourish."
