Dead of Summer certainly knows how to throw an M. Night Shyamalan-level curve ball.

If you thought Amy was Camp Stillwater's embattled protagonist, you thought wrong. Introduced as the audience's conduit into the drama's supernatural horrors, Lail's character turned out to be the brinicle of the lot, slowly sucking the life out of everyone in her path.

Planned from the get-go, Amy's true nature was always meant to be a shock. Watch through the season again, however, and you'll chastise yourself for not following the breadcrumbs.

"This was part of the pitch for the show. When we first came up with the concept, it was centered around this idea. We've been building to it all season," executive producer Adam Horowitz told TV Line. "If you go back to the first episode, and I hope you do, you'll see a lot of little hints throughout."

Now that the tables have turned, Camp Stillwater's dwindling team of counselors will spend the finale in an all-out battle for their lives. To make matters worse, a few of their former coworkers will journey back from beyond the pale. This is a ghost story, after all.

"Next week, we pick up right after. It's full-throttle," executive producer Ian Goldberg teased. "There's the aftermath of the events of Episode 9 to contend with; we're still in the middle of a very scary, intense situation."

Check out the official summary for episode, "She Talks To Angels."

"What was supposed to be a fun summer that the Camp Stillwater counselors would never forget quickly turned into a horrible experience they will be lucky to survive," Freeform teased. "As summer comes to a close, the centuries-old battle between good and evil at Lake Stillwater will be settled once and for all."
