It's time for Supergirl to fulfill her childhood mission. Kara Danvers was sent to Earth to look after his little cousin Kal-El, but since she never had that chance, guiding Mon-El through life in National City will give her the opportunity to play mentor.

The finale ended with the arrival of yet another Kryptonian pod, this one belonging to comic book fav, Mon-El (Chris Wood). Once Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) meets Earth's newest arrival, she'll have the welcome wagon ready.

"What's interesting about Mon-El joining the show, from Kara's perspective, is that Kara has spent her whole life as someone who's been mentored, first by her mother, and then by the Danvers and Superman and Cat. She's always been somebody who's been taken care of, in a way," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Collider. "Now, with Mon-El, he's fresh off the boat. As far as he's concerned, living on another planet happened yesterday, and suddenly, he's on Earth and everything he knew was lost."

It will take some time, however, for Mon-El's whole story to come out. Comic book fans know the hero's origin story comes equipped with a little twist, but it is how or if Supergirl will address that storyline.

"We don't want to say too much because we're doing our own version of Mon-El," Kreisberg teased. "Obviously, he's a character from the comic books and he's much beloved, and we're putting our own spin on it."
