The maids who try to solve crimes that occur in the homes of their rich employers are officially unemployed now after Lifetime decided to pull the plug on Devious Maids after four seasons.

Lifetime has decided to no longer go forward with the series, which did see ratings slip considerably since its season one finale peak of three million viewers a few years ago, though it appears the decision not to renew the show actually comes from a change in creative direction at the cable channel instead, as it was the predecessor to UnReal, which is coming back for a third season despite having even lower numbers than Devious Maids in the ratings.

According to Deadline, the show was a left over from the old regime at the network, and the change in creative direction, which began with UnReal and will continue with Sea Change and A Midsummer's Nightmare, may have meant the show didn't have a home there anymore.

It is unclear if an effort will be made to revive it on another network, but it is clear that some fans are especially saddened by the loss of the show, even though the cast has taken to social media as well to share happy memories from the show and assure fans that they loved them for helping them last as long as they did.
