Fans were ecstatic to learn a few weeks ago that Tyler Christopher did sign a new contract with General Hospital and would be returning to his role as Nikolas Cassadine, but they may need to wait a little longer to see him back on-screen again.

Christopher exited his role back in June due to a stall in his contract negotiations, and was last seen after his character took a fall and appeared to die. He later re-appeared a short time later and was revealed to be alive and have faked his death, but his adventures in England with Ava Jerome (Maura West) were cut short, and the character was taken over by actor Nick Stabile instead. Stabile assumed the role for about a month, before the character of Nikolas appeared to truly be killed off when his uncle Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) shot him and he fell out a window.

Since then, Nikolas has been presumed dead on the show, until Christopher eventually makes his return to the role, most likely later this fall. However, it was unclear when news broke that he was coming back about when exactly he would return to set, or scenes with him back in action would air.

Now though, it appears they could be later than fans may have hoped, as Christopher has landed a new film opposite former Days of Our Lives actress Jillian Clare, titled Pretty Broken.

According to Soap Central, Christopher will portray the role of Jerry Carlyle, a former kids cable access TV show star who becomes a self-proclaimed role model for a used car sales team. To be successful, he reportedly uses several one liners and Southern Charm, which may or may not help when it comes to his romantic life.

According to the website, a synopsis for the film states that it is about a family that is trying to survive after the death of their most beloved family member, and their different ways of coping with the situation.

It is unclear how much the movie could affect his filming schedule when it comes to General Hospital, and if it will actually delay his return to the soap further.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 3 p.m. on ABC.
