Amber Rose C-Section Decided on After Baby Sebastian Was Breech, She Admits [VIDEO]
Amber Rose shared that she had a C-section to deliver her son, Sebastian Taylor.
She gave birth to her child with Wiz Khalifa on Feb. 21 and opened up about the life changing experience on Tuesday's episode The Ricki Lake Show. Rose said she originally wanted to deliver her child at home and was inspired by the film The Business of Being Born, which is about women who choose to give birth at home. Lake was the executive producer of the film.
"I first saw The Business of Being Born actually before I was even pregnant," Rose said. "I was like, 'If I ever get pregnant, that's how I'm going to do it!' Then when I got pregnant, I watched it again and then I made Wiz watch it."
After viewing the film himself, her significant other was on board as well. Khalifa became very enthusiastic about the prospect of a home delivery and they thought it was something they could do together.
"I thought it was really interesting being that me and Amber had a baby on the way," Khalifa said. "I felt like it was important, but I didn't think that I was going to be into it as much as I was."
They had their home equipped with a birthing pool, midwives and a doula. However, Rose had to alter her plans when she discovered that her baby was breech and a natural birth was no longer possible.
"At 37 weeks one of the midwives said that that big lump right there on my top by my ribs was the baby's head," she said. "My ideal birth plan was just down the drain."
Rose tried acupuncture and mugwort in order to change the position of her unborn baby. She even asked a doctor to try and manually turn the baby. Those efforts were unsuccessful.
"They push his head down and push his butt up ... It hurt a lot. It was very painful. I cried," she said.
At this moment the couple accepted that their child would come into the world via C-section. They felt they made the right decision but Rose still wants a home birth for their next child.
"Watching the documentary and seeing how the women pull the baby out and put the baby on their chest - that's what I really, really wanted for me and Sebastian," she said. "That's the part that I missed out on."
