'Grey's Anatomy' Season 9 Finale Spoilers: 'Perfect Storm' Features 'Top Secret' Shonda Rhimes Didn't Even Tell the Actors
Details continue to surface about the two-part season 9 finale of Grey's Anatomy, titled Perfect Storm, and the show's executive producer revealed a secret plot that viewers can expect to see.
Shonda Rhimes took to Twitter on Tuesday to talk about the finale that will air on May 16. She did not give away a storyline but said that the respective episode will feature a scene that not even the show's actors knew about prior to taping.
"On set at Grey's," she tweeted. "A piece of this scene was so top secret that I had to whisper it to the director instead of writing it in the script."
The excitement Rhimes created follows a tweet she wrote in March, saying that writers "made some very bold shocking decisions" for the finale's script.
It was revealed in April that Perfect Storm, will have a natural disaster similar to Superstorm Sandy that will shake the hospital and its staff. E! Online stated that the staff of Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital will "find themselves in over their heads" when a number of machines at the hospital, specifically ventilators, stop working.
Grey's Anatomy finales have showcased in the past plane crashes, deaths and shootings at the hospital, so followers are accustomed to disasters taking place on the ABC series.
An all new episode of Grey's Anatomy, titled Do You Believe in Magic, airs Thursday on ABC at 9 p.m. ET. Former One Tree Hill star Hilarie Burton makes a guest appearance in the May 2 episode as the newest craniofacial specialist at the hospital.
