Dancing With the Stars season 23 certainly got off to a memorable start on Monday as two men rushed the stage to protest controversial swimmer Ryan Lochte.

Lochte and his pro dancing partner Cheryl Burke performed for America for the first time during Monday night's DWTS premiere. As the judges began critiquing their dance, two men were heard shouting from the audience and ultimately ran onto the ballroom, though the camera was only focused on judge Carrie Ann Inaba as she repeatedly said, "Excuse me!"

Viewers then saw a clearly rattled Lochte, Burke and host Tom Bergeron, who threw it to break as security escorted the men out of the ballroom. Now there's an alternative camera angle courtesy of the local ABC station in Southern California, showing some of what happened:

The men, Los Angeles locals Sam Sododeh and Barzeen Soroudi, were arrested by police for trespassing. Sododeh and Soroudi were wearing anti-Lochte T-shirts, a likely response to the swimmer's lying about being robbed at gunpoint at the Rio Olympics to cover up a gas station vandalism incident.

When the show returned from commercial break, Locate said he was "doing good" but admitted he was feeling "a little hurt." He added: "I came out here, I wanted to do something I'm completely not comfortable with, and I did."

Popular Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough admitted that he got a little "defensive" when the whole incident went down.

"This is my home and I was just so shocked that people would come here and be so negative," Hough told People after the show Monday. "This is a safe place for people to learn a new skill and seek redemption or start a new chapter in their life and that's what Ryan is trying to do and I just felt so defensive that someone would try and ruin that for him and for everyone watching, so I took it upon myself to make sure they were escorted out. I wanted to protect my home."

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
