Fans were stunned when the General Hospital killings took a very unexpected turn this past week by knocking off a big player character in Sabrina Santiago (Teresa Castillo).

Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi) has so far focused on guest star characters as the Derisifol murderer, or small bit players when it came to the victims who were killed off, while attacks on Bobbie (Jacklyn Zeman), Lucas (Ryan Carnes), Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Monica (Leslie Charleson) proved not to be fatal. However, after Sabrina put together the pieces and realized he was the killer, Paul quickly made sure she couldn't expose him by strangling her to death.

Now, Castillo has taken to social media to address her exit, though it appears that despite now no longer being a part of the GH family, she is completely grateful to both the fans and the show itself for the opportunity she was given as she portrayed the character over the last four years.

Castillo took to Instagram to acknowledge her exit, where she thanked the fans for all the love and support they gave her over the years.

"4 years ago, this girl walked into the halls of General Hospital and her life was forever changed," she captioned a photo of herself in character. "Thanks to the amazing cast and crew for a fantastic run. And a special thanks to all you incredible die-hard soap fans for showering me with your love. You guys are the best!"

Castillo also took to Twitter to acknowledge former head writer Ron Carlivati executive producer Frank Valentini, and casting director Mark Teschner for giving her a chance to prove herself as Sabrina in the first place.

Fellow cast members also reached out on social media to express their love for Castillo and wish her well in her future. Kathleen Gati, who portrays Dr. Obrecht, thanked Castillo for always being so kind to her on set, while Hayley Erin, who portrays Kiki Jerome, simply shared a tweet full of sad faces over her cast mate's departure.

The episodes aired in a week for big GH cast departure news. News broke earlier in the week that both Tyler Christopher and Bryan Craig were exiting the roles of Nikolas Cassadine and Morgan Corinthos.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 3 p.m. on ABC. Watch one of Castillo's goodbye scenes here.
