Days of Our Lives has officially begun the period of another reboot, with material written by new co head writer Dena Higley and Ryan Quan officially on air, and now, the two are speaking out about their plans for the direction the show will be taking while they write the stories.

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, the pair outlined their vision for the show, which took a darker turn in recent months following a fantastic period for the 50th anniversary episodes last fall. And though viewers may have tuned out over the course of the show's less appealing episodes, Higley hopes a plan of bringing romance back into the stories will help regain their viewership

"I think for me, the goal this time, especially coming in after a certain period of a lot of dark stories, is that we don't want to shy away from conflict and drama, but always with the goal of love conquering all," she said.

Meanwhile, Quan wants to also bring back more of what the show had in it's past, which also included more adventurous plots as well, instead of focusing on only the happenings within the Salem city limits, which started to get a bit stale.

"I just want to make the show feel like the show I grew up watching that had a mix of mystery and adventure and romance and fun," he said.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
