The NCIS: Los Angeles team needs a medevac, the sooner the better.

Callen (Chris O'Donnell), Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen), Kensi (Daniela Ruah), and Sam (LL Cool J) will return to action this Sunday, but just as they think their mission is over, their time in the field will go terribly wrong. Deployed to Syria to bring in a dangerous terrorist, the agents will find themselves spiraling out of control in "High Value Target" and "Belly of the Beast."

While SecNav plays musical chairs with the NCIS brass back home, a fiery helicopter crash will leave Hetty's (Linda Hunt) team bloody, stranded, and under attack. Check out the following sneak peeks to see what we mean.

No wonder one of our heroes will land in the ICU by episode 3. For now, however, medical help is far afield and enemy forces are just around the next sand dune. Check out the episode summaries below to find out what the future holds for the OSP squad during Sunday's 2-hour season 8 premiere.

"After NCIS fails to locate a mole in the department, Under Secretary of Defense Corbin Duggan (Jackson Hurst) insists on new leadership and takes over the Los Angeles unit from Hetty and Granger," CBS teased. "Also, the team travels to Syria to apprehend a High Value Target where one team member is severely injured when the mission goes awry."

Look for Kensi to spend a little time in recovery post-Syria (a cover for Ruah's real-life maternity leave).

"This very challenging mission went awry and left Kensi facing a questionable future," executive producer R. Scott Gemmill told TV Insider.
