Quantico isn't pulling punches. Instead, the series is boldly going where few network series dare tread, brutally beheading the first lady in the season premiere.

If you thought that the execution was one of the series' clever tricks, you we're dead wrong. While Quantico spared viewers the gore as "Kudove" cut to credits, series creator Josh Safran is adamant that President Todd's wife is no more.

"The first lady was beheaded on national television," Safran told The Hollywood Reporter. "On this show, when somebody's dead they're dead, because in the real world, when people die they are dead. It's about what can happen in a moment. So no one is safe, that's what the world is."

The series will take a page from Jack Bauer's playbook and allow the future hostage crisis to play out over 24-hours. Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra) will, of course, be at the center of the latest terrorist attack, and, based on the premiere reveals, you can bet there are plenty of surprises headed her way. As per usual, trust is in short supply.

"On The Farm, we all have to figure out and suss each other out. Even with Ryan, Alex didn't even know he was coming into this job," Chopra warned. "So you don't know anyone's complete picture at all. Whether it's the past or the future. In episode one, we don't know who is what."

Next time on Quantico, a season 1 fan favorite will return.

"The new CIA recruits begin running counter-surveillance exercises at The Farm while Alex and Ryan navigate their new relationship with each other," ABC teased. "In the future, Ryan and Raina try to disrupt the terrorists' plan to blend in with hostages while trust becomes a deadly weapon, as not everyone is who they seem to be."

Quantico airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. Click the video below to see a preview for the series' next episode, "Lipstick."
