'Seven Deadly Sins' News & Updates: Season 2 Confirmed Before 2016 Ends [VIDEO]
The Seven Deadly Sins is just one of those anime that is not too mainstream, yet carries a certain appeal. Over the years, the manga has gained popularity, and its first anime's run was fairly acclaimed by viewers and critics alike. Now, it appears like the highly-anticipated follow-up to the first season is finally coming, with a possible release date sometime in 2017.
The Seven Deadly Sins Plot
The saga of The Seven Deadly Sins takes place in a medieval kingdom where humans and non-humans exist. Prior to the events of the anime's first season, a catastrophe occurred, allegedly caused by a notorious group of hyper-powerful knights, who embody people's greatest flaws, and who go by the name of the Seven Deadly Sins. With the public condemning the knights, the powerful group disappeared.
Ten years into the story, a Coup d' Etat initiated by the Holy Knights ended up costing the Royal Family, save for one, their freedom. Princess Elizabeth, who was the only one who escaped the coup, then goes on a quest. Her mission: find the Seven Deadly Sins, curb the coup and rescue the Royal Family.
While the plot of the anime has been done numerous times before, The Seven Deadly Sins was nonetheless able to capture the hearts of viewers through its compelling, classic shounen storyline.
The Seven Deadly Sins Season 2 Release Date
While the release date for the highly-anticipated second season of The Seven Deadly Sins has not been confirmed as of date, numerous speculations point to a possible late 2016 or early 2017 release date. This is due to the notion that the creator of the manga, Nakaba Suzuki, is reported to be actively involved in the creation of The Seven Deadly Sins anime.
Thus, with chapters of the manga steadily trickling in, it would be a logical choice for the anime's producers to simply wait until ample material has been covered by the manga. Regardless of whether the anime's new season would be launched later this year or early next year, fans are quite unanimous in the belief that the wait might very well be worth it.
