'Girls' Season 3 Spoilers: Allison Williams Dishes On Marnie's Future & Christopher Abbott's Departure [VIDEO]
To the excitement of its fans, HBO's hit TV series Girls will begin shooting its third season soon. While the unexpected departure of Christopher Abbott in April has put the creative staff in a bit of a bind, the show's loyalists are hoping that Lena Dunham and company will be able to deliver them another highly effective dose of the popular female-watched cable series.
Recently, Allison Williams (Marnie Michaels) addressed the circumstances with her previous on-screen love interest to TVLine, stating Abbott's (Charlie Datollo) fallout with the show had "a huge effect on our show and [on the character of] Marnie specifically. It's almost as if we skipped her third season and have gone on to single Marnie."
The breakup of the relationship "means that Marnie is now piecing herself back together," she added.
Although it's indeed a bummer for Williams not to be working with Abbott any longer, she still remains fully confident in the writing staff's ability to successfully develop her character's development around it.
"It's unfortunate that [Abbott] is no longer part of the family. The minute I heard the news, there wasn't a single doubt in my mind that [the show's writing staff] would come up with great stuff for Marnie to be doing. And what we've done so far and what we're continuing to do is so excellent," Williams said.
Although Girls is currently in production for its third season, no official airdate has yet to be determined.
