‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ News: CBS soap opera in danger of cancellation?
"The Bold and the Beautiful" may be facing the chopping block after almost a 30-year run. Viewership statistics of the CBS soap opera for the month of October is dismal.
In the past couple of months, the viewership results for "The Bold and the Beautiful" had reached an all-time low since it first aired in 1987. Consequently, the soap opera's Nielsen ratings for October are not looking too well, said Health Aim.
Fans fear that if the viewership trend continues, there is a huge possibility that CBS will not renew the long-time running daytime soap for 2017. Many of the sitcoms in the network has also experienced low viewership ratings last month, but "The Bold and the Beautiful" suffered the most.
Although many believe that it is still too early to know the fate of the soap opera, the consistent drop in ratings is enough cause to be wary. Unless the viewership picks up again in the coming weeks, talks of cancellation from CBS may become inevitable.
The report from the website speculated that the stale storyline can be one of the reasons that the 29-year-old show is suffering at the ratings. The plot has not progressed in the past few weeks. It mostly revolves around Quinn and Liam. If writers do not come up with a shocker in the storyline, the soap opera may lose even more viewers.
At present, "The Young and the Restless" is currently doing better in the ratings department compared to "The Bold and the Beautiful." Both this daytime soaps are being aired on CBS. Their difference in viewership is staggeringly vast.
This does not spell well for "The Bold and the Beautiful" since TV networks prioritize shows that could attract more viewers. It is be easier for CBS to drop the less popular soap opera. Therefore, if the 1987 show does not gain back momentum, it will certainly be dropped by CBS.
