Being that it's already been picked up for a second installment, Fox's The Mindy Project will be closing out its rookie season on a high note on Tuesday night.

Just off the heels of the positive news, Mindy Kaling (Mindy) had spoken to Zap2it about the creative approach she had in mind for the show, which surprisingly wasn't outcome based.

"Pickup or no pickup, we had the same ending plan, but also there would have been a little bit of finality if we hadn't gotten picked up. I've been thinking about the world and how big it was and how ambitious we were," she said.

Mindy's main squeeze Casey (Anders Holm) will be headed on a mission trek for a year. However, his livelihood should continue to exist, stated Kaling.

"I hope so. I don't want to give too much away about the ending, but we talk a little bit about that at the end of the episode. And we are not at the point in the series where we're murdering characters yet."

Fox's The Mindy Project will air its Season 1 finale on Tuesday, May 14 at 9:30/8:30 p.m. Central. Keep checking back for more of the latest details on the comedy series.
