Avril Lavigne in Talks to Join 'X Factor': Report
Could Avril Lavigne be the newest X Factor judge? The pop-punk singer reportedly wants a piece of the action.
According to TMZ, Lavigne is interested in the job and even has an inside connection -- current judge L.A. Reid.
The Canadian singer is the latest in an ever-growing list of potential judges for the upcoming season. Rumor has it Britney Spears, Janet Jackson and Fergie are also in the running.
Lavigne, who began her music career as a teenager, believes she knows what it takes for young performers to make it in the music industry. Sources tell TMZ she's asked her reps to reach out to X Factor producers about the gig.
Last January, show creator Simon Cowell axed judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, along with host Steve Jones. While Cowell has said he wants two female additions to the judges' panel, he's keeping mum on the prospects.
"While you've got 'The Voice' and 'Idol' competing with each other, I've learned one lesson: Keep your mouth shut," Cowell told reporters during a recent conference call. "Don't give it all away."
