Wonder Woman TV Show Still in the Works, Says The CW [VIDEO]
The CW is still trying to develop the Wonder Woman TV show, despite not being on the schedule for the fall.
Titled Amazon, the series will be "looking at the teenage years of the heroine who will become Wonder Woman."
The original pilot did not get picked up for a series order back in January. The CW president Mark Pedowitz explained in Thursday morning's upfront presentation, "It's being redeveloped. We don't want to produce something that doesn't do the franchise justice... It's the trickiest of all the DC characters."
Pedowitz explained that "all of the elements for a proper Wonder Woman drama were in the pilot recently presented to the CW," but the execution of those elements were off.
NBC tried its own version of Wonder Woman, starring Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki back in the 2011-2012 TV season, but that pilot also failed to get picked up as a series.
The CW has had success with supernatural/superhero-themed shows. The Vampire Diaries and Arrow are two of the network's most popular shows, so it's easy to see why they would think a Wonder Woman show would fit right in.
As of now, there is no word on when Amazon will premiere or who will be involved in the project.
