After a story-booked run on America's biggest singing competition, Kree Harrison has taken the runner up on American Idol, which means that Candice Glover has been crowned the Season 12 winner.

According to Wet Paint, the two contestants social networking popularity played a crucial factor in the final results, as Glover was easily the more popular contestant out of the two, as she has in excess of 94,000 followers compared to Harrison's 87,000.

However, while the social networking statistics seemed to accurately predict the outcome, the recently eliminated Angie Miller actually had 172,000 followers. Another ousted competitor, Lazaro Arbos, also possessed more followers than a good chunk of the other Top 10 finalists.

Miller's elimination last week was at the very least, surprising, but did serve to bring some more mystique into the competition leading up to tonight's champion.

Last week, Glover had performed the classic song Somewhere. Her version was so well-received she earned the night's lone standing ovation and was told she had one of the "greatest vocals in Idol history."

Her powerful rendition of Somewhere led Idol judge Keith Urban to yell, "Oh my goodness. What was that?! What happened?! How do you do that?!

"If you want to vote for Candice dial the number on your screen," he added. "If you don't want to vote for Candice, call your doctor, you probably don't have a pulse."

Randy Jackson, the show's original judge since season 1, said Glover "had one of the greatest vocals in Idol history."
