After a surprising close to its fourth season, The CW's The Vampire Diaries surely has many of its loyalists itching to find out the details on its upcoming season.

The Season 4 finale revealed to fans that Stefan (Paul Wesley) is a doppelganger of Silas. Similar to Katherine (Nina Dobrev), Silas has it out for Stefan, as he chose to trap him inside a box and toss him into a lake.

TVD executive producer Julie Plec recently spoke to TV Guide about what lies ahead for the Salvatore brother.

"Truth be told, I don't think it'll be too long. I think that there's more fun to be played with people learning quickly, but independently of the other, so there's a lot of good bait-and-switch Katherine style stuff that could happen early in the season. And people that know Stefan well will be able to catch on pretty quickly I hope," she said.

Stefan and Silas have unsimilar demeanors to one another, as the latter has the innate ability to read minds. If Silas were to act, he may alert Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Caroline (Candice Accola) or Elena (Nina Dobrev). However, he can change Stefan to throw them off their path.

Although no airdate has yet to be announced, Vampire Diaries Season 5 is slated to begin in September. Keep checking back for more of the latest details.
