The Amazing Race Season 29 has been announced, but the future of Season 30 seems bleak.

The Amazing Race fans have been waiting for CBS to make an announcement about Season 29 and finally it is here. The show is all set to return to TV screens next year in April and it remains to be seen if this delayed season will succeed in lifting up the falling ratings and eventually give producers reasons to go ahead with Season 30.

CBS has announced that The Amazing Race Season 29 will premiere on April 21, 2017. This is great news for fans but they cannot help wondering if the next season will prove to be a savior for the Emmy-award-winning reality TV series, hosted by Phil Keoghan.

Well, the showrunners know this very well and this is why the coming season is scheduled to feature a unique system wherein racers would be selected through a schoolyard pick that would be based on the results of a pre-race event.

Notably, The Amazing Race has witnessed a decline in popularity. The past few seasons have failed to draw heavy audiences and high ratings. The dismal performance even caused the producers to resort to gimmicks but they backfired. Season 28 was particularly disappointing as it gave importance to the younger, social-media crazy generation. It drew a lot of flak from the viewers and looks like the criticism made the TAR team get their act together.

CBS took its time to bring the missing zing back into the reality show and after all this delay, Season 29 has been finally announced and most likely it will decide the fate of Season 30, which is not being filmed now, claims Reality Blurred. According to sources close to the show, it will not be run this year, which is a deviation from the timetable CBS has followed.

The filming for The Amazing Race Season 30 was scheduled for October to January but some time back it was said that Season 30 will not have new contestants and will feature a returning cast. Now, it is being said that the channel has no plans to film Season 30, not now at least.

In fact, the future is also bleak but if The Amazing Race Season 29 is back with a bang, there is no reason another season will not follow suit.
