'Survivor' Death: 'Gabon' Contestant Dan Kay Passes Away At 40 On New Year's Eve [VIDEO]
Former Survivor contestant Dan Kay has died at the age of 40.
Kay died unexpectedly on New Year's Eve, according to his newly-posted obituary on Legacy.com. He is survived by his two children, mother, sister, two nieces, girlfriend, and his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Kay was a castaway on Survivor: Gabon, the reality show's 17th season. Playing alongside contestants like Bob Crowley, Randy Bailey, Crystal Cox, Ken Hoang and Sugar Kiper, he came in 11th place, becoming the last person voted out before the jury stage of the game.
Since news spread of Kay's passing, the Survivor community has been tweeting their condolences:
Kay is the fourth Survivor contestant to die after competing on the show. Survivor: Palau's Jennifer Lyon died in 2010 after battling breast cancer, Survivor: Borneo contestant B.B. Andersen died in 2013 of brain cancer and Survivor: Blood vs. Water player Caleb Bankston died in a railway accident in 2014.
