'Game of Thrones' Season 7: Big Villain's Return Confirmed, How He May Play Into Overall Story [VIDEO]
His character may have been most definitely, absolutely killed on the show, but Walder Frey will definiterly be back for Game of Thrones' seventh season.
According to Watchers on the Wall, David Bradley, the actor who has portrayed Frey, has updated his official agency resume to include season 7 of the show, which would mean he is expected to be around in some capacity, something that would seem odd considering the man who organized the Red Wedding, which saw the brutal massacre of Robb Stark, Catelyn Stark and the entire Stark forces was killed himself in the season 6 finale of the show, when Arya (Maisie Williams) returned to Westeros, served him a pie made out of the remains of his sons, and then slit his throat.
However, even though Bradley can say he is a part of the show's seventh season, it doesn't mean Walder Frey himself technically is, since it's unlikely his character would also be brought back from the dead, after season six saw the returns of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and the presumed dead Hound (Rory McCann)--and if a villain were to be brought back, it would likely be one who was loathed even more than Frey, like the long-departed King Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleason) or Ramsay Bolton, Warden of the North (Iwan Rheon).
Arya was able to successfully kill Frey because of her training in Braavos with the Faceless Men, and she disguised herself as a new maid at The Twins who Frey tried to hit on before she revealed herself. If Bradley is a part of the new season, but Frey is dead, it likely means that Arya will use his face as she continues her pursuit of revenge against the many enemies she blames for her family's misfortunes. And since he is an ally of the Lannisters, using his face could allow her to easily slip through the defenses that would normally keep her away from Cersei (Lena Headey).
Game of Thrones returns in Summer 2017.
