The details on the upcoming season of CW's The Vampire Diaries continue to flow quite rapidly. One of the topics on fans' minds is surely how the situation between Matt (Zach Roerig) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) will play out in the future.

With TVD spin-off The Originals set to also launch in the fall as well, the scenario could get a bit complex being that Klaus (Joseph Morgan) will be playing a primary role in the franchise's newest show.

Holt recently spoke to TV Guide about executive producer Julie Plec's approach toward the characters moving forward into the highly anticipated spin-off series.

"Julie [Plec] has left the door open for us to have cross-overs and for each of the characters to swap between the show," she said.

The actress also addressed the dilemma between her and Klaus along with her hopes for their relationship moving forward.

"She's going to have to mend her relationship with Klaus in order to make it successful and work for her. I'm hoping Rebekah and Klaus will reconnect again because we had some fun times in the 20's," Holt added.

Although no airdate has yet to be announced, Vampire Diaries Season 5 is slated to begin in September. The Originals is set to continue on Tuesdays at some point in October.
