'The X-Files' Season 11 Will Be Revived Says Fox, Though Gillian Anderson Isn't Biting
Those who have been waiting for The X-Files can take cheer. Rumors whisper that Season 11 of the show will be back through Fox network. Its original characters Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are also poised to make a big comeback.
However, the star, Gillian Anderson, who essayed the role of Dana Scully, is not all that sure. She had told Reuters in November 2016 that she felt the show "is finished." Meanwhile, she will be acting in a couple of Hollywood films, Crooked House and Viceroy's House that will be released this year, according to ibtimes.
Still, the show is not completely over yet. The X-Files Season 11 is expected to continue, with Fox president David Madden revealing that "a lot of conversations are going on."
"As you can imagine, these conversations are complex. We hope to be able to announce something shortly," Madden said, according to TV Line.
Fox CEO Gary Newman also is sure. He said that the The X-Files Season 11 will "get there," according to Variety, even though the timings have not been fixed. Hence, it's not this year but in 2018 that the FBI special agent duo will splash the screens. Moreover, that will happen only after Gillian Anderson too joins them.
In the last episode, fans were in confusion about whether Mulder (David Duchovny) really managed to live through it all, and whether Scully escaped from getting caught by a huge, alien spaceship. Still, Fox will continue with the series to give some answers. It is not known whether there will be a much longer season.
It will be time for Gillian Anderson's return. Fox will need to put in all their efforts to convince the actress to return, in spite of the fact that she is insisting that it is all over.
