‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ News, Update: Producer Stresses Out Next Title Is Not An Open-World Game
Many fans might have already presumed that BioWare's upcoming franchise installment, "Mass Effect: Andromeda," may come out as an open-world game. However, its game producer, Michael Gamble, has recently clarified that this is not going to be the case.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda," according to Gamble during his interview with Official Xbox Magazine, is an "exploration-based" game rather than an open-world one, Games Radar reported. He then continued to reassure the fans that they can still expect many great things in the upcoming title that are from the original "Mass Effect" installments.
One in particular that he mentioned is the franchise's "tight story deliverance," which was one of the layers of the first few installments. And next to that is the exploration aspect that is going to be focused on "Mass Effect: Andromeda."
"Sometimes that happens in open spaces, but not always," Gamble added. "You can cruise around some of these planets in the Nomad, but it's not the traditional sandbox-type game."
The Nomad that Gamble referred to in his statement was the land-based vehicle that fans will primarily use in "Mass Effect: Andromeda," GameSpot reported. It will replace the vehicle that many players have used in the previous franchise installments: the Mako.
It is apparent that planet and environment explorations are going to be some of the main highlights of "Mass Effect: Andromeda." But it is important to take note that this isn't the open-world that some might have presumed like "Grand Theft Auto" or even perhaps "Saint's Row.," as reports advised.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is now scheduled to hit the United States market on March 21 and in Europe on March 23. It will be available on current-generation consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and on Windows PC. More news about its features, as well as its multiplayer beta, should arrive in the coming weeks before its much-awaited release.
