‘Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild’ News, Update: Developer Nintendo Defends Upcoming Game’s Season Pass
The much awaited Nintendo Switch and Wii U title, "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," is causing quite a stir lately, most notably after developer Nintendo announces its plans for the game's Season Pass. Now, the publisher has responded to the criticism and explained the reason behind it.
Nintendo's Bill Trinen explained that the reason why the company pushed the "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" Season Pass - and its downloadable contents - was due to how massive the world of Hyrule is. The developers think it would be a waste to just make one game out of it, considering the time and effort they've all put in, Trinen said while speaking with IGN.
Because of that, the developers behind "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" have had led to the thought of creating DLCs for the game. "We want people to be able to enjoy exploring this world, and so they started thinking about, 'Well, if we were going to do DLC, what would we do, how would we do it?'" Nintendo's Senior Product Marketing Manager continued.
The "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" DLCs, as announced by game producer Eiji Aonuma, will come in two separate packs. The first pack is expected to come out in Summer 2017 while the second won't be out until the holidays.
"Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" DLC Pack 1 will contain a new challenge for the players in the form of Cave of Trials, new hard mode as well as additional map features. The second pack, however, will have new original story, new dungeon and unspecified additional challenges.
Those who will avail the "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" Season Pass will receive three treasure chests on the same day Nintendo Switch becomes available, which is on March 3. These treasure chests will contain useful items and an exclusive in-game clothing.
As for its price, Destructoid reported that fans can buy the "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" Season Pass for the price of $19.99. No official word yet from Nintendo if the DLCs will come sold separately or about its standalone price.
