J. August Richards, of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel fame is rumored to be joining American Horror Story's third season when the show comes back in October.

Richards sent out a tweet to Sarah Paulson that led many to believe that he had been cast in the horror show's third season.

"I can't wait to work with @MsSarahPaulson again...!!!" he tweeted. Paulson, who will return for American Horror Story's third season replied, "Hey @jaugustrichards I can't wait to work with YOU again!!"

Richards then replied, "Sorry, so random. But so real!", to which Paulson replied she felt the same way.

The pair has since deleted these tweets, implying that they were probably told by American Horror Story producers to remove them.

Hypable screengrabbed the tweets, which you can view here.

Paulson has not been confirmed to be working on any other projects in the future besides American Horror Story, so all signs point to a confirmation that Richards will join the cast.

Richards would only be the second confirmed male for the third season, after series regular Evan Peters. The casting would coincide with the news that producers were looking to cast for a character named Hank, a husband of one of the other characters.

Paulson and Peters join returning cast members Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, Lily Rabe, and Taissa Farmiga.

Additionally, many high-profile actresses have signed on for the third season, including Kathy Bates, Gabourey Sidibe, Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett and Patti LuPone. It was announced on May 22 that Emma Roberts has signed on to play Madison, a "self-involved party girl." Roberts will be starring alongside Peters, her real-life boyfriend.

Paulson confirmed in her chat with GoldDerby.com on Friday that there is "definitely a female-heavy cast" for season 3.

The third season is titled American Horror Story: Coven and will involve witchcraft. One of the show's locations has been confirmed to be New Orleans.

More information about the cast and the plot for American Horror Story's third season should be revealed in the coming months.

American Horror Story: Coven is expected to premiere in October 2013.
