‘Longmire’ Season 6 to be the Last in the Crime Television Series; Netflix Not in Favor of Renewal
Though "Longmire" Season 6 premiere date is still under wraps, fans cannot be sure of the crime television series getting a renewal after the sixth season. It does not look like Netflix would continue after "Longmire" Season 6 as it has not given out any signals about revival.
Those looking forward to "Longmire" Season 6 premiere would be disappointed as a date has not been declared as yet but it is expected to premiere in fall, Cinema Blend claimed. But, post-Season 6, it is uncertain as it might or might not be resurrected.
Those who do not remember, "Longmire" was canceled unexpectedly by A&E after Season 3 and then Netflix came to its rescue. The streaming service picked up the show and it has already telecasted Season 4 and Season 5. "Longmire" Season 6 is awaited but as of now, the show stands canceled after this season.
As for the reasons for cancellation, Netflix has not given out any reasons about why it canceled "Longmire." This is quite a contrast to what it did with "Bloodline." According to What's on Netflix, the streaming service cited the high cost of production as the reason for canceling "Bloodline." However, this does not seem to be the case with "Longmire"
So, what could be the reasons? It is said that the low ratings of the show are one of the prime reasons it did not get a renewal after "Longmire" Season 6. Netflix might not have released the figures but it is widely conjectured that the show has been on a decline in terms of viewership.
The highest it grossed was in Season 1 when it had debuted on A&E. Lack of plot is another reason that seems to have sounded the death knell for "Longmire." Of late, the storyline has been missing the zing and that probably explains the drop in ratings. Stay tuned for more news and update about "Longmire" Season 6.
