'New Girl' Cancellation: Decrease In Viewership Might Be The Reason Why Season 6 Will Be The Series' Last [VIDEO]
Fox's television sitcom, "New Girl" has been plagued with cancellation rumors just recently. Multiple reports have been saying that the show, which is currently in its sixth season, has a high possibility of not returning on televisions since Fox has bot given any updates about a confirmation of a renewal.
On a report from Yahoo News, it was stated that actor Jake Jackson, who currently stars on "New Girl" as the grumpy young man, Nicholas "Nick" Miller, said in an interview that he thinks the show is probably done. It would mean that as the show approaches its season finale on April, fans and viewers may not see the sitcom once again after the sixth season.
People have reportedly been wondering why "New Girl" has not been renewed for a new season until now. Knowing that there are only a few episodes left to air for the current sixth season, an announcement for a renewal for the sitcom is much awaited by the fans. However, Cinema Blend reported that the show might not have enough viewership for Fox to approve a new season.
As per the aforementioned source, the viewership for "New Girl" last year was not as remarkable as the sitcom had a few seasons ago. And even though it showed a little bit of increase in ratings for the early months this year, it reportedly might not be enough for the network to assure fans for a seventh season of the show. There are also apparently other series from Fox that have presented more significant numbers than the sitcom.
But fans are still hoping that the announcement for the seventh season will happen a few weeks from now. Meanwhile, "New Girl" is almost close to its season 6 finale. On the upcoming episode to be aired this week, TV Guide reported that it is going to feature Zooey Deschanel's character Jess, to be worried about Nick (Jake Johnson) and Reagan's (Megan Fox) too much time together, as Jess still has feelings towards her former lover.
"New Girl" season 6 episode 19 airs March 14, 2017, on Fox.
