The fourth installment of the hit British-American drama, Downton Abbey, has its fans waiting in high anticipation, as information on its upcoming season continues to surface.

To the excitement of its many fans, the show has been witnessed filming new material for its premiere episode.

According to Digital Spy, a funeral for the late Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens) will be kicking off its fourth season.

Matthew had been involved in a fatal car accident in the Downton Abbey Christmas Special, which aired in 2012. The respective tragedy left Mary (Michelle Dockery) as a single mother to a newborn baby and widowed.

In other notable Downton happenings, executive producer Gareth Neame had informed the Daily News that he sees the popular program having six more years of good storytelling proceeding Season 4.

"I would rather that we picked the right year [to end] and that in 20 years time the show was loved rather than we went on a season too long and people fell out of love with it," Neame said while in Santa Monica for Britweek.

Downton Abbey, which airs in 219 countries across the world, follows the ups and downs of the royal Crawley family and their staff in the 1920s.

The series is set to premiere its fourth season in the U.S. on Jan. 5, 2014, according to The Huffington Post.
