The seemingly painstaking wait for the sixth season of the HBO's True Blood is nearly over as its set to make its return in just a couple weeks.

Judging by the hype surrounding the upcoming installment, it appears as though Sookie (Anna Paquin) will "get her hands a little dirtier than usual" to better cope with what she'll have to deal with, according to Wet Paint.

While speaking to Modern Luxury recently, TB showrunner Brian Buckner indeed acknowledged the change in Paquin's character.

"This season the writers and I have been making a concerted effort to help Sookie grow up, become a little bit darker, more accepting of her fate, more self-knowing," he explained.

To top it off, Buckner also hinted at a more curious and seductive Sookie, stating that she'll "explore her attraction to vampires head on" in the upcoming season. However, while chatter over a new love interest for her has been circulating, it's still unknown whether she'll have any further sexual involvement with Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) or Bill (Stephen Moyer).

Paquin herself also chimed in on Sookie's ever-so-changing dynamic and love life.

"So obviously, that situation has to [play] out. And we have new cast members this year, and that's always fun to have fresh blood, if you'll pardon the pun," she explained.

HBO's True Blood is set to make its return on Sunday, June 16 at 9/8 p.m. Central on the HBO network. Keep checking back for more of the latest details on the cable network TV series.
