"The Last of Us Part 2" has only released a single trailer that did not spill anything on the true story. While fans wait for the game to fully come to fruition, there are already inevitable surrounding theories that make sense to some, while others simply consider it speculations.

According to Eurogamer, fans may be on to something regarding the possible plot of "The Last of Us Part 2," which has been a resounding guess for quite some time now. Joel, the male protagonist of the first game, is said to be dead in the sequel, and though the trailer may still show what is said to be "him," fans simply believe that it is his ghost or image, talking to Ellie.

The rumors suggest such tendency simply because of the lines Ellie herself said in the trailer, specifically "killing every last one of them"-presumably pertaining to the Fireflies. For those unaware, the Fireflies are a vital part of the series especially during the first, as they tried to perform surgery on Ellie for a proposed cure. In "The Last of Us Part 2," the plot goes five years forward, which could certainly mean that Joel is dead and that Ellie looks to avenge him-which the trailer fully supports.

Another odd factor is that Joel is completely tidy in the last trailer, as oppose to the dirty, bloody mess shown on Ellie. While this may be quite peculiar, some do not believe in the death of Joel just yet simply because Naughty Dog could know that he is a fan favorite. Other than that, the rumors on Joel's well-being are still afloat and the books are still left open. In other news, "The Last of Us Part 2" is already up for pre-orders, as per Game Stop, although no release date has been divulged just yet.
