Formerly Blind Christian Guardino Gets Third Golden Buzzer On 'America's Got Talent' (VIDEO)
Last night on America's Got Talent, 16-year-old Christian Guardino received the third Golden Buzzer of the season from judge Howie Mandel. Guardino shared his emotional story about formerly being blind and performed Who's Lovin' You by The Jackson 5.
Guardino revealed that he was blind for most of his life. He managed to regain his sight after experimental therapy.
Guardino began performing his cover and blew the judges away. Mandel stood up midway through his performance while clutching his chest and staring at Guardino in awe. Once his performance ended, all the judges gave him a standing ovation.
When Mandel asked him if he had a wish in that moment, Guardino answered requesting a judge hit the Golden Buzzer.
Mandel obliged and sent Guardino straight through to the live rounds. Guardino now joins Mandy Harvey and Darci Lynne as the contestants who have received a Golden Buzzer from a judge this season.
Heidi Klum is the only judge remaining yet to use the buzzer.
Currently, Guardino's audition video has hit over a million views on Youtube. "Golden Buzzer" was also a trending topic on Twitter as users shared their thoughts on his performance. Among fans, Guardino is being discussed as a possible winner of the season.
The show is currently in its audition rounds, which will continue through July when elimination rounds begin.
Season 12 of America's Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
