Although AMC's hit zombie TV series, The Walking Dead, won't be appearing on the small screen for quite some time, production on the popular program has indeed been underway in Griffin, Ga.

To top it off, VFX designer and Season 4 premiere episode director Greg Nicotero was confident enough to sum up the future installment's storyline material as "bigger than any script we've done before."

Amongst a slew of other changes set to take place within the story arc, comic book creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman had addressed some of the characters set to take on beefier roles to TV Guide on April 1, which includes Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green).

"We've seen Maggie take on a more central role [in Season 3], and that will continue. Michonne is a huge character that's going to be a lot more active in Season 4. We've also got the new character of Sasha [Sonequa Martin-Green], Tyreese's sister," he said.

AMC's The Walking Dead will be kicking off on Sunday, October 13 at 9/8 p.m. Central. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on the hit zombie series. Get an inside look at the fourth season below!
