Fans of the BBC hit TV series Doctor Who are surely wondering what lies ahead for the popular show following the announced departure of its lead actor Matt Smith.

While Smith's replacement will surely have large shoes to fill, Dead Man Down's Dominic Cooper had no qualms about stating that he'd highly consider being up for the daunting task.

"I would definitely consider it... it would be very, very scary. Matt's done an incredible job of it, and he's made it so different and daring and I wouldn't know where to begin with where to take that after what he has done. But, of course, it's an incredible show - you couldn't possibly not consider it," he said.

Cooper aside, Miranda Hart, Russell Brand, Helen Mirren and Samuel West are some of the actors being mulled over for the part of the next Doctor.

Interesting to note, Smith's future replacement will be the 12th Doctor of the program.

No official airdate has yet to be announced for Season 8 of Doctor Who. However, the 50th anniversary special will be airing on Saturday, November 23 in the U.K., followed by the Christmas special. The respective episodes will be Smith's final two. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on the popular British program. The 50th anniversary trailer can be viewed below.
