'American Crime Story': 'The Assassination Of Gianni Versace' Official Trailer Released
American Crime Story struck gold with its first season that focused on the 'trial of the century', The People vs. O.J . Simpson. The second season has been predicted to be just as successful as its predecessor. Thanks to the official trailer, it looks to live up to everyone's expectation and more!
The Assassination of Gianni Versace will shed light on the life and tragic murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace and the man responsible for the crime. Over the past few months, we've been teased with various behind the scene photos of the cast transforming into their characters; however, nothing can compare to the one minute and 30 second clip that will surely give watchers chills.
Actor Edgar Ramirez will play the titular character, Gianni Versace, while Glee star Darren Criss will play serial killer Andrew Cunanan. The series will show how these two men's paths crossed and what led to the ill-fated event that not only ended with the death of Versace but Cunanan as well. Also starring in the show will be Penelope Cruz (Donatella Versace), Ricky Martin (Antonio D'Amico), Max Greenfield (Santo Versace) and Finn Wittrock (Jeffrey Trail).
From the trailer, one can also see the backstory of Cunanan, who was profiled as a psychopath and murdered four other victims before targeting Versace. The cast will undoubtedly give stellar performances as the world may finally get the answer as to why Cunanan took the life of one of the best designers in history.
"I will not allow that man, that nobody, to kill my brother twice," Donatella (Penelope Cruz) says in the trailer. Goosebumps!
Versace was a prominent fashion designer with celebrity clients such as Elton John, Naomi Campbell, Anna Wintour, Cher, and even Princess Diana. After his murder, Donatella became the new head of design of his company and their elder brother, Santo is the CEO. Lifetime released a movie House of Versace, starring Gina Gershon as Donatella Versace, which briefly touched on the Versace's murder but more so focused on Donatella's struggle with living in her brother's shadow.
The second season of ACS is set to premiere on FX Jan. 17, 2018.
